This is the Privacy Notice of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Hong Kong (the “APPG on Hong Kong”).
This Privacy Notice is to inform you how the APPG on Hong Kong collects and processes your personal data when you provide it to us.
It is important that you read this Privacy Notice carefully if you intend to provide information or your personal data to us.
If you do not agree to any terms under this Privacy Notice, please do not continue to use the website or submit any information or personal data to the APPG on Hong Kong.
1. WHO IS COLLECTING YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
1.1 For the purposes of data protection law in the United Kingdom, the APPG on Hong Kong is the data controller in relation to the collection and use of your personal data in the United Kingdom.
2. WHAT ARE THE PURPOSES TO COLLECT YOUR PERSONAL DATA
2.1 The APPG on Hong Kong is set up to provide support to the investigation of the human right abuses in Hong Kong and to produce a report which shall be published and made available to the public.

3. WHAT KIND OF INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT AND HOW DO WE COLLECT IT?
3.1 The APPG on Hong Kong collect information and your personal data that you voluntarily submit to us to fulfil the purposes of the APPG on Hong Kong under Clause 2.
3.2 We may collect information directly from you which personally identifies you, such as your name, email or any contact information, your organisation (if applicable), when you provide information about the human rights violation in Hong Kong to us.
3.3 The APPG on Hong Kong does not intend to collect or process “Special Categories of Personal Data” unless you submit to us voluntarily such information that discloses your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation, political beliefs/ opinions, trade union membership, information about your health and genetic and biometric data.
3.4 If you visit the website of the APPG on Hong Kong, the APPG on Hong Kong may collect certain information from your browser, such as the IP address.
4. HOW WILL WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
4.1 With your express consent, the APPG will use your information and your personal data in the following ways:-
(a) to support the investigation into human right abuses in Hong Kong;
(b) to produce a report on human right abuses in Hong Kong which will be published and made available to the public;
(c) to contact you about any information you provide;
(d) for internal record keeping, so as to keep a record of your relationship with the APPG on Hong Kong; and
(e) to invite you to participate in any parliamentary groups or committees to testify and present your information via audio, video or in person.
4.2 For security reason, the APPG on Hong Kong may use IP addresses to block disruptive use.
4.3 The APPG on Hong Kong may also need to comply with legal requests where disclosure is required by law.
4.4 You have the right to withdraw your consent to the above use of your personal data. You can do so at any time by contacting us at evidence@hkinquiry.org.

5. WHO DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL DATA WITH?
5.1 We do not disclose your personal data to anyone outside the APPG on Hong Kong except:

where we have your consent to do so;

to our professional or technical advisors based in the United Kingdom acting as data processors or joint controllers to fulfil the purposes under Clause 2;

to other parliamentary groups or committees to fulfil the purposes under Clause 2; or

where we are required to do so by law.
5.2 We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law. We do not allow our third-party data processor to use your personal data for other purposes than those specified under Clause 2 of this Privacy Notice.
6. HOW WILL YOUR PERSONAL DATA BE STORED?
6.1 Your information and personal data will be kept by the APPG on Hong Kong in a secure environment. The APPG on Hong Kong will put in place appropriate measures designed to prevent unauthorised access to, and misuse of, your personal data.
6.2 The APPG on Hong Kong will take all reasonable and appropriate steps to protect the personal data that we hold from misuse, loss, or unauthorised access by placing appropriate technical and organisational measures, including security measures on our servers, restricted access controls etc.

7. HOW WE STORE AND TRANSFER YOUR PERSONAL DATA INTERNATIONALLY
7.1 The APPG on Hong Kong will only process and store your personal data within the European Economic Area or EEA (the Member States of the European Union (EU), together with Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) where it is compliant with data protection legislation and the means of transfer provides adequate safeguards in relation to your personal data.

8. HOW LONG DO WE RETAIN YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
8.1 The APPG on Hong Kong will not keep your personal data for longer than is necessary for the purposes for which we collect it unless we believe that the law or other regulation requires us to preserve it (for example, because of a request by a tax authority).
8.2 When it is no longer necessary to retain your personal data, we will delete the personal data that we hold about you from our systems.

9. YOUR RIGHTS AND HOW TO CONTACT US
9.1 Where the APPG on Hong Kong relies on your consent to collect and process your information and personal data, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. If you wish to do so, please contact the APPG on Hong Kong at evidence@hkinquiry.org.
9.2 You are entitled to object to or request restriction of processing of your personal data, and to request access to, rectification, erasure and portability of your own personal data.
9.3 The accuracy of the information you provided to us is very important. If you are aware of any need to change your information or personal data, please contact the APPG on Hong Kong as soon as possible so that it could be updated and corrected.
9.4 You also have the right to make a complaint directly to the data protection authority of the United Kingdom, the Information Commissioner’s Office (“ICO”), at http://ico.org.uk/global/contact-us/.
10. HYPERLINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES
10.1 The website of the APPG on Hong Kong may contain hyperlinks to websites owned and operated by other organisations. These third-party websites have their own privacy policies, including policies on their use of cookies, and you are urged to review them. They will govern the use of personal data you submit to them or which is collected by cookies whilst you visit these websites. The APPG on Hong Kong cannot accept any responsibilities or liabilities for the privacy practices of such third-party websites and your use of such websites is at your own risk.
11. CHANGE OF POLICY
11.1 The APPG on Hong Kong may amend this privacy statement from time to time. If we do, we will post a notice of the change on the website.
